Anthony Bekker founded Biztech Lawyers after his time as General Counsel and Head of Operations at commerce/marketing tech company, Rokt. Having helped them break into the US from a small Sydney office and then on to 8 other markets and employing 150+ people. Anthony loves helping people solve complex problems. His international experience includes working at Mallesons Stephen Jaques across ecommerce, technology, finance and litigation, to in-house stints at global behemoth (BT) and for the UK competition and consumer regulator (the OFT).
An MBA at INSEAD led to a change in direction spending time at a top global strategy consulting business, and projects in the Netherlands, Singapore and the US. Anthony now works out of Sydney and when he’s not getting in and amongst the tech community, you’ll find him down at the beach with his wife and little daughters, travelling, or taking up some random challenge like cycling across the Simpson desert! With a unique perspective on the dynamic relationship between agile operations and legal Anthony wanted to enabled tech-driven companies to use legal to grow exponentially-as a decision making partner rather than a commercial blocker.
Yehuda has advised technology companies from many different sectors and through his time working as a senior commercial lawyer at Monash University, has a strong understanding of the commercialisation lifecycle of intellectual property. Yehuda has acted as an “external GC” to a range of technology focused businesses and advised spin-out and startup companies on the full suite of start-up documents, general commercial contracts & all other functions generally served by an in-house legal counsel.
Originally from South Africa, Yehuda now lives with his family in Melbourne. When he is not working, he is most likely to be drinking coffee, engaging in some outdoor activity usually involving or close to a beach, and spending time with his young kids.
He has consulted extensively to R&D focused companies ranging from start-up to large corporates, and worked on various large projects including M&A activity, restructuring of business units and advising on strategic company acquisitions.
Alexandra has led some of the fastest-growing start-ups to come out of Australia. Notably her role in nurturing, building, and developing operationally a number of Rocket Internet ventures. Alexandra has also held the position of CEO of a $60m portfolio ofe-commerce companies for Lux Group. Brands within the homewares portfolio included The Home, Brands Exclusive, Pop and TheActive. During her tenure she accelerated the growth of two of the brands from $2m to $30m revenue in 4 years, achieving profitably in the first 6 months through financial analysis and a focus on operational improvements.
From discipline as a professional ballet dancer in Germany, to graduating from the University of Oxford (Hons), and completing a masters at EADA business school in Spain, Alexandra brings an innovative leadership style and out-of-the-box thinking to Biztech Lawyers. As an avid supporter of the power of experiences and transferable skills she is passionate about helping online business scale up. She has a wealth of skills, passion and experience to share.
Dineth is a Graduate Lawyer in our Sydney Team responsible for carrying out Commercial and Intellectual Property matters. He has experience as a paralegal at Napoleon & Richard Legal and as a volunteer at Inner City Legal Centre. Dineth also became a Sydney law school mentor for first year students helping to guide them through their academic experience.
Jan is a Law Graduate in the Sydney Team with a background working in market research, advertising and public relations. She draws on that experience to assist the team with various corporate and commercial matters. Her interest in research has also brought her to present her thesis in the International Conference for Business and Economics.
Roshan is a Graduate Lawyer in our Sydney Team responsible for carrying out Corporate, Financial and Commercial matters. Roshan has extensive experience across several fields including banking & finance, legaland corporate & public sector advisory. He has worked in a diverse set of rolesin high-pressure environments and is experienced in handling client interactions with multinationals such as JPMorgan, BNP Paribas and HSBC.
